Wholly Loved and Seen
To whom do you ascribe your identity, God who knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb or finite beings who don’t yet know themselves as they are known?
Psalm 29:1-2
Give glory to YHWH, you heavenly court,
give YHWH glory and strength!
Give forth the glory that God’s Name deserves,
and worship YHWH in the splendor of holiness!
It is humbling to consider that even the vapors of our breath on a cold winter’s day can be ascribed to God, written on the annals of history even before the foundations of the world. Viewing our place in the world from this vantage point, we are invited to know ourselves as we are known by God. Wholly loved and wholly seen, what else can we feel but the indescribable joy of being.
However, in a world of distractions, we must be reminded that only the undistracted love of God can offer this grand vision of our unquestionable belonging. This is why it is of vital importance to be mindful of whom we ascribe our identity.
To whom do you ascribe your identity – God who knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb or finite beings who don’t yet know themselves as they are known?
