wake up, get up, and do something
Apathy is the opposite of love. Who in your life needs you to awaken to love? Who is commanding you to get up, rise up, and love boldly? All it takes is one first step, what's yours going to be?
Taking her by the hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Little girl, get up!” And immediately the girl stood up and began to walk about (she was twelve years of age). At this they were overcome with amazement.
Jesus leaves his speaking engagements to resurrect a dead girl.
But she wasn’t dead, she was asleep. I know a thing or two about being so asleep that others think I might be dead, metaphorically speaking.
That’s what depression does.
You are breathing, but not alive. Your apathy makes your existence impercetible.
I feel like our society is collectively breathing, but not alive. Our apathy is immense and we are numb to death, war, mass shootings… depressed.
And Jesus comes and commands this girl, and all of us ““Talitha koum,”, “Little girl, get up!”” trusting that we will live again.
Sometimes, all it takes is someone believing there is still more life in you, even if the others laugh.
Apathy is the opposite of love. Who in your life needs you to awaken to love? Who is commanding you to get up, rise up, and love boldly in the face of laughter? All it takes is a little response to begin with. What will yours be today?
