Vengeance
How do you want to ask God for deliverance from your enemies, perceived or real or frenemies?
Psalm 3:7, The Inclusive Bible
Arise, YHWH!
Save me, my God!
You struck all my enemies with a blow to the jaw,
and broke the teeth of the violent.
This Psalm is written from the vantage point of a sulking, afraid and pitiful David. His son, Absalom, has mounted a rebellion to over take his throne as King and David has run away. It’s a prayer, but it’s also a whiny plea for validation of his woes. He is seeking deliverance from enemies, shielding of his pride and answers for his big questions. He lashes out and wishes for some good old fashioned vengeance on his enemies (come on god! punch them in the jaw!)
There really are the days when our foes are internal (negative emotions, self sabotage behavior); and there are days when our foes are external (circumstanial or relational); and there are days when our foes are a rabid combination of both.
How do you want to ask God for deliverance from your enemies, perceived or real or frenemies?
Who is out to get you tonight? Circumstances, relationships, emotions or limiting beliefs? What step would change your belief the world is out to get you?
