universal, unconditional blessing
How can we strengthen our faith communities to be truly welcoming toward everyone, so all can experience the promise of spiritual blessings and connection?
Ephesians 1:3b
God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing that heaven has to offer.
In the more conservative churches that I was a part of in the past, I didn’t feel that every spiritual blessing was available or even within reach of everyone. Not because we weren’t worthy, but because others had deemed it so. It seemed like the few in the pews who “received” these blessings were the gatekeepers, and that others “weren’t able” to get the same grace, connection, peace, and spiritual fulfillment for reasons that were limiting and unjust.
This dissonance between the promise of 'every spiritual blessing' and the reality I and others experienced in those churches created a deep concern in me–and it still does today.
The message from Ephesians is one of universal, unconditional blessing. The disconnect between what I saw and what I felt in my bones about the Divine led me on a journey to explore the expansiveness of the Divine’s love.

What made me smile about this was the almost instant association with the Barbie movie and the phrase "I am Kenough." Working as a therapist I'm constantly in conversation with people who believe they will never be enough. Today, I want to remind them and others that they are enough and while we all have work to do, it starts simply with being okay with where we are today.
