understanding and responding
How can you be more attentive to the needs of others in your daily life?
Psalm 106:44-45
He saw that they were suffering when he heard their cry for help. He remembered his promise to them. In keeping with his rich mercy, he changed his plans.
Have you ever experienced a time when someone asked for help, and you wanted to offer it but also had a day full of plans you'd have to set aside to be available?
It can be difficult to change plans. And I’ll be the first to admit that it’s tough for my neurodivergent mind to just change things at a moment’s notice unless I have some time to prepare myself. In the past, when someone has asked for my help, I've found myself torn between the desire to offer support and my need for structure.
But God–according to this verse–sees and understands our suffering and our needs, with a nature that changes and responds to others. God remembered the promises made and focused on what the people needed.
How can we do the same? How can we prepare ourselves to help and adapt to others’ needs?
Have you ever experienced a conflict between your personal plans and the needs of others? How did you resolve it? How can you be more attentive to the needs of others in your daily life?
