Luke 4:14-15
Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.
There is a reason why Jesus was known as the Way Shower. As someone who surrendered to God’s Law of Life, Jesus gave flesh to the Spirit, something that is undeniably attractive, but equally convicting. When Jesus spoke, he had an undeniable authority. His very words were Life because Life animated his being.
But, he didn’t speak and embody the Words of Life just so people could hear them. His expectation was that we would allow ourselves to be filled with the knowledge of that very same Life. He came so that we could live Life abundantly and pour that Life into those we come in contact with even as He did.
Unfortunately, many of us have been taught that hearing and confessing what Christ did is enough. But, as James 1:22 says, “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
What does it mean to you to be a doer of the word? How do you apply that meaning to your life? And can others see the Word alive in you?
