thanking our truthtellers
As you head into the weekend, who are the people in your life who love you enough be truth-tellers? How might you thank them for their presence?
Psalm 50:4
He calls to the heavens above and to the earth and that he may judge his people.
One of my favorite lyrics is from the song Wildflower by Suzanne Champion and it goes, “if you don’t love me, you don’t get to judge me”.
The verses this week have led me to explore God and Jesus as judges. For me, this was a reminder of how quick we are to judge and the friendship I experience with Jesus.
Lately, I’ve been trying to live into this idea that Jesus is my friend. Not a distant God or entitled judge but a good friend.
Who do you count among your friends, a bestie, loving partner, childhood or college friend?
There are two friends who come to mind when I try to picture Jesus as a friend.
They are the people who speak truth into my life and help me find my way. They are there for advice and pep talks.
My friends know my values and how I want to live my life, a kind person with a really strong backbone. I want to be hospitable and communal but not a doormat. They lovingly judge me and support me.
As this week comes to a close, I am awed by how much Jesus loves us enough to judge, pushing us toward healing in our lives.
As you head into the weekend, who are the people in your life who love you enough be truth-tellers? How might you thank them for their presence?
