Luke 13:18-19
Then Jesus asked, “What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to? It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds perched in its branches.”
The kingdom of God starts small. It starts with a kindness offered to another, a simple greeting, a truth spoken, a picking up of a small piece of garbage on the side of the nature path, a reassurance that one is okay, asking for consent before acting and respecting it, inviting someone in that is usually left out. But it grows and grows and grows, until it gives to many, supporting birds and people and trees and life.
We can start small. We don’t have to jump immediately into dramatic acts; we can start with small actions that can grow into bigger ones.
What's one small kindness you can do today? One small way you can offer care and attention to someone who needs it?
