Source of Life
What’s one small thing you can do today to be more deeply rooted in the life-giving source of Jesus?
John 5:26
For just as Abba God is the source of life,
God has ordained that the Only Begotten
also be the source of life
Being deeply rooted and connected to a life-giving source of nourishment is what will help things to grow and flourish.
Where are we rooted as the Church? As individuals? And how deep do those roots go?
Scripture says that we’ll know a tree by its fruit, and this verse, John 5:26, identifies Jesus as the source of life.
When we imagine the horizon, what fruit do we see there? Is it the mercy-giving kind of fruit? The fruit that promises to hold one another through pain and grief? The kind of fruit that provides bodily care with consent, love, and attention to detail? The fruit that comes from the heart instead of merely a sense of obligation?
If the fruit we envision isn’t flourishing, how can we reimagine it? What things can we change today to live into the future we want?
What’s one small thing you can do today to be more deeply rooted in the life-giving source of Jesus? And how will that rootedness change the future of the Church and our world?
