Shattering & Subverting
How can you align with God’s heart today, even if you can’t yet see the full design?
Psalm 33:10-11
The Mighty One shatters the counsel of the nations; She disallows the designs of the people. The counsel of the wisdom of the ages stands forever; the designs of Her heart to all generations.
Sometimes, I wish God would interrupt strategy meetings. “Actually, that plan? Cancel it. It’s oppressive.” But this Psalm reminds me that She doesn’t always show up in the minutiae of the nations’ counsel, at least not in ways I can see.
Still, the text proclaims that She shatters the designs of injustice and holds wisdom that stretches across generations. Do I believe that? Even now, in this wounded world, can I trust that the Mighty One is entangled with our pain, grief, and struggle. Do I act as though She is not distant, but present? Her heart has a design for liberation, for wholeness, for all people.
I may not see the full scope, but from my humble location, I want to believe God is still subverting harm and sowing something better. So today, I ask: can I align with the quiet rhythm of Her wisdom, even when I don’t see the full design?
