Quiet Trust
Where in your life might you practice releasing the need for control and resting in a humble, childlike trust?
Psalm 131:2
“I have calmed and quieted my soul like a weaned child with its mother; my soul is like the weaned child that is with me.”
Psalm 131 paints a picture of trust so deep, it’s almost childlike—free from restless ambition and frantic striving.
In a world that prizes spectacle and constant productivity, these words invite us to step into a posture of humility and rest in the Creator’s loving presence. Humility isn’t about self-deprecation; it’s about realizing we don’t have to hustle for worthiness. Like a weaned child content in the caretaker’s arms, we, too, can find our security in the knowledge that we are held and beloved.
This Lenten season, we’re reminded that we don’t have to figure everything out or carry the world on our shoulders. We can return to a quiet trust, letting the Creator’s peace sooth our anxieties and remind us that we are enough.
