pursue peace
What does peace look like and feel like in your day to day?
Psalm 34: 14
Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
When I first read this I was confused about the distinction between seek and pursue. Initially, they felt very similar to me but the more I thought about it the clearer the distinction became.
To me, seeking something is to look for it for the first time while pursuing something is the continuous journey of nurturing something.
In my spiritual life, the distinction is how Jesus sought me out but now that I call him friend he still pursues me.
This verse calls us to first know peace. To know what peace feels like in our hearts and then to not lose sight of it. Its like the psalmist deeply understood how not peaceful the world can be.
