play your role
1 Corinthians 3:6
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.
The WNBA is having a moment. More attendees, viewers, and attention than ever before. And it’s about time these women — many of whom are BIPOC and/or queer — get their due!
Though historically not as popular as the NBA, I’ve heard it said that “The W” features more fundamentally sound basketball. One reason is the team-oriented style of play that emphasizes collective effort and strategic collaboration over individual stats and skills. This requires players to be unselfish, trusting, and committed to carrying out their specific role.
This is a wonderful illustration of the ethos the text communicates. You might not hoop, but you’re likely a part of some type of team. Each person has a unique role that contributes to the whole. When we play ours and appreciate the contributions of others, we create an environment of collaboration and unity. In doing so, we make room for divine increase!
In what ways can you intentionally acknowledge or share gratitude for the unique contributions of those in your community?
