Not Alone
How can we create moments of connection and support like this in our own lives, allowing ourselves and others to express and release emotions freely?
Philippians 4:1
My dear, dear friends! I love you so much. I do want the very best for you. You make me feel such joy, fill me with such pride. Don’t waver. Stay on track, steady in God.
A friend called me at a breaking point this week. I was driving and feeling the tension. I pulled over to take his call and this was his greeting: “Hello, my sweet angel sprinkled with magic and light. On the count of three I want us both to scream… 1, 2, 3….” Without hesitation, I joined him. The scream was followed by immediate laughter, delighting in each other, our connection, our freedom to be just as we are with each other.
The conversation went on for the next twenty minutes with all our fears and deep sense of loss, betrayal, all of it. There were tears. There was more laughter.
I hung up the phone with a sense of relief that I was not alone in any of this and I am surrounded by people who are invested in my thriving just as I am invested in theirs.
Let us hold that together now as we come from the margins to hold these words together: We are not alone in any of this - we are invested in one another thriving.
How can we create moments of connection and support like this in our own lives, allowing ourselves and others to express and release emotions freely?
This is wonderful!
