New Perspectives
Where in your life do you sense an invitation to listen more deeply to historically excluded voices?
Luke 11:31
“The queen of the South will rise … because she came from the ends of the earth to listen to the wisdom of Solomon.”
Jesus evokes the Queen of Sheba’s journey, praising her quest for truth over comfort. Here, we see again how an “outsider” becomes a symbol of fearless curiosity. The Creator’s wisdom is never bound by borders or hierarchies – often, it emerges through voices we least expect.
In this Lenten season, we’re invited to examine whose stories get sidelined in our communities, and to challenge the structures that keep us from hearing them. By listening intentionally to those who’ve been silenced or overlooked, we practice a radical act of solidarity and love.
The Queen of Sheba’s determination reminds us that transformation may require leaving familiar ground and journeying into new perspectives. Our role is to remain open, to value the questions that expand our worldview, and to honor the wisdom that greets us along the way.
