Colossians 2:9–10a
In Christ the fullness of divinity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you find your own fulfillment.
You may have heard it said, “You don’t have a soul. You have a body, you are a soul.”
Welp. I enjoy being the soul that I am, but the “having a body” part? I’d reeeeeally rather not. The one-two punch of gender nonsense and depression means that I spend most of my time mentally checked out of my bones hotel.
Is it the same with you? You have a body, but do you inhabit it? Do you inhabit it so much that you could be said to dwell in it?
If Scripture is right, and you have come to fullness in Christ, then like Christ that fullness only comes through the body that is your dwelling. You and I are not going to make it as disembodied spirits. We’ve got to stop couch crashing and move in.
Today, decorate your flesh prison like you live there. Maybe put a clip in your hair. Paint your nails. Or get that tattoo you’ve been putting off. Wear an outfit that pleases you to look at. What makes you feel most "you" in your body today?
