meeting tangible needs
Mark 6:36
Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.
I’ve always loved this story not because of the miracle but because Jesus met tangible needs.
I used to think saving souls was enough, that was the call as a Christian. But not for my friend Jesus, he tells his disciples, “You give them something to eat.” Jesus empowered his disciples to take part in the solution.
Jesus fed, clothed, and housed people. Jesus deeply understood and lived out meeting people's needs. Jesus demonstrated compassionate concern for all aspects of human life.
How might you actively seek out opportunities to serve and make a difference in the lives of those around you? What specific actions and supports are needed?
