Exodus 16:13-15
In the evening quails came up and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. When the layer of dew lifted, there on the surface of the wilderness was a fine flaky substance, as fine as frost on the ground. When the Israelites saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread that God has given you to eat.”
Have you ever “woken up” to find that God has provided for your needs in ways you never imagined?
By nature, I’m anxious if I’m not in control, can’t see the path from point A to B, or can’t figure out what point B even looks like to start moving toward it.
Trusting that God’s Spirit is at work in my life and this world is hard-won and a lifelong spiritual practice. I’m better at it, but I expect it will always be a work in progress.
When I trust God and seek out the Holy Spirit, I experience waking up to God’s truth, gifts, relationships, creativity, and opportunities. “Manna from heaven” is always beyond my imagination.
Waking up is not passive, it is a function of orienting toward the movement of the Holy Spirit, seeking prophetic truth, building relationships, and learning and doing the work on the journey to liberation.
Our work is to stay woke to the systems of slavery so that we can wake up to the ways God is leading us to liberation.
What habits do you want to cultivate to stay woke and wake up? What habits are barriers, and how might you break them down?
