That One Thing
In what ways do I see Jesus inviting me today—not just to follow commandments—but to release and trust more fully?
Luke 18:22
When the rich ruler asked Jesus about eternal life, he was told, "There is still one thing lacking."
Though he did obey all the commandments, his heart was still bound to the constraints of material wealth. Jesus tells us to let go of anything worldly that we treasure more than him.
Many of us have that “one thing” that holds us back. But Jesus reminds us "What is impossible for mortals is possible for God." (Luke 18:27). It is through the grace of God that we can truly let go of all material attachments.
As you go through your day, ask God for the strength to trust fully and understand what God values above all else. Even though it may be difficult in this culture, God has an eternal culture that is worth more than any temporary thing this world has to offer.
