Ephesians 6:13
Therefore, pick up the full armor of God so that you can stand your ground on the evil day and after you have done everything possible to still stand.
Just when there is nothing left in you and you have no choice but to give up... don’t!
In this passage, the reader is encouraged to keep standing even after they have done everything possible. What this suggests is that even after we have exhausted ourselves through our efforts to defeat evil, with the whole armor of God, we have only just begun.
In 1 Corinthians 12:9 Paul is told by God, “My grace is enough for you, because power is made perfect in weakness.” That is to say that God is at God’s best when we are at our worse.
Perhaps it is because it isn’t until we go as far as our ego will take us that we finally surrender to God’s “way everlasting (Psalm 139)”. In this way, at times the worst thing we can imagine becomes the best thing that could ever happen to us.
When was a time when right as you felt like giving up, God’s power showed up?
