Hard Questions
Where do you see “outsider wisdom” emerging in your life, and how might you make space for it today?
1 Kings 10:1–3
When the Queen of Sheba heard about Solomon’s fame, she came with hard questions. Solomon’s wisdom stunned her, revealing the limits of her own assumptions.
As we explore this week of Lent, we’re invited to examine how wisdom can arrive from unexpected places.
In 1 Kings 10, the Queen of Sheba – an “outsider” – brings hard questions and leaves with a deeper reverence. This story upends our tendency to assume that only the recognized “insiders,” or experts, have something to teach us.
The Creator often speaks through those on the margins, reminding us that true insight isn’t about prestige or spectacle. It’s about humble curiosity, courageous conversation, and mutual learning. Lent offers a chance to think things over, stay open-minded, and build better relationships while growing as a person.
