Romans 5:11, The Inclusive Bible
Not only that, we go so far as to make God our boast through our Savior Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Reconciliation brings together two otherwise opposite energies, needs, perspectives and postures. Typically, before we find our connection to God and rootedness in God’s shalom coming to earth we are operating out of self-motivated and isolating energy.
This letter to the Romans contrasts what life is like before and after choosing to be reconciled to God. And it highlights that God’s rescuing love finds us at precisely the right time, when we are stuck in powerlessness and lives devoid of expansive love.
God’s love is demonstrated not in helping people who have their crap together; but in restoring people who truly need the reconciliation. It generates boasting rights to have been loved, reconciled and restored this way.
Go ahead: how has God met you in your powerlessness? Where have you been reconciled to expansive love?
List the ways God’s love has been palpably demonstrated to you in the past month? Year? Decade? Lifetime? Give thanks for these demonstrations.
