Luke 18:6-7
And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long in helping them?”
In his parable about prayer, Jesus sets up a juxtaposition between an unjust ruler, who is unrighteous and shirks his duty, with God.
Though he is of bad character and drags his feet, even the unjust judge grants justice that is due–how much more intently then will God hear God’s people, and decisively will God meet the needs of justice?
The crux of the parable turns on the understanding of God’s character: God is just, compassionate, and responsive–and unlike the unjust ruler, God does not betray God’s duty to God’s people.
What kind of character does God’s character inspire in you?
