1 Corinthians 15:19-20
If for this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have died.
Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians remind us that resurrection is central to our faith—not just as a future promise but as a transformative reality now. The resurrection of Christ is described as the “first fruits,” signaling the beginning of a new creation. Just as the first fruits in a harvest anticipate abundance to come, Christ’s resurrection shows us that life and justice will prevail over the forces of death and oppression.
This isn’t a call to sit idly by, waiting for the Creator to “fix it.” Resurrection is a call to action. To hope in Christ is to believe that new life can emerge from what feels dead, broken, or impossible. Oppressive systems may seem immovable, but the Creator’s justice is already at work. Our role is to join in, nurturing dignity, hope, and possibility in the world around us.
