John 3: 6-8
What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be astonished that I said to you, ‘You must be born from above.’ The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
I never got the born again arguments. In my teenage years, when altar calls were popular, you cried and accepted Jesus to be like everyone else, not to radically alter the world you live within and the worldview you carry. It was all about personal salvation, and nothing about living the good news. It was garbage gospel.
Being born again these days is bullsh*t if it’s unaccompanied by an understanding of the life we’re choosing.
We’re choosing to experience the common humanity of us all under the call of a Creator who urges us into relationship. We’re choosing to challenge structures of power that hinder the movement of God’s children. We’re choosing creativity, change, and novelty, moving through the world like the wind comes and goes among us.
That’s being born of the Spirit. If we aren’t quickened into some form of connection, then what’s it for in the first place?
How do you move with the Spirit in your life? How does the Spirit call and beckon you into relationship together?
