9.27.23 - I Samuel 25:25
What's the character you want to curate so that when your name is spoken it makes people want to connect? What's the first step in that curation you want to take today?
My lord, do not take seriously this ill-natured fellow, Nabal, for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him, but I, your servant, did not see the young men of my lord, whom you sent.
What’s in a name?
Names matter because it is the first thing you say when you introduce yourself, it speaks to your identity. They have power because they are the first thing someone learns about you.
In this passage we hear about Nabal and his character. Namely, he was a fool.
Once we know the meaning of his name, without even reading another word, we form an idea about the story. Our actions give weight and meaning to what people associate with our names.
If we've ever winced at a name on a guest list, we know this to be true. Your interactions leave a lasting impression on your name, a laundry list of associations that are hard to break.
What do the associations with your name say about your character?
What's the character you want to curate so that when your name is spoken it makes people want to connect? What's the first step in that curation you want to take today?
