9.22.23 - Matthew 7:19-20
Ritual is all about a habit done with intention. How would you like to hold your intention toward one fruit of the spirit through the weekend?
Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will know them by their fruits.
Passages like this one have created a lifelong figurative “fire under my butt” to keep doing more, More, MORE!
I would hate to be a bad-fruit-bearing tree! With the number of times the gospel mentions being thrown into the fire, it can feel terrifying.
The fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
None of these have anything to do with DOING things. They are about slowing down, quiet, reflection, doing less, and being present more.
Which of these fruits calls to you as you read this - either because it feels lacking in your life or because it feels very abundant?
What might it be like to carry an intention toward that fruit with you today?
