9.19.23 - Romans 12:9
What would a spiritual practice of hope, not about some future payoff, but a hope built on the beautiful and God-filled things now look like for you?
Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; persevere in prayer.
I celebrate most silly holidays and observances that come along, not just the “serious” ones.
National Pizza Day? Here for it. Why not eat pizza?
National Hug a Dog Day? Yep. Never a better idea.
I do this on purpose because life is really hard sometimes, so I choose to have moments of celebration. The moments of stopping to celebrate small, silly, joyful things in the world bring me hope. They remind me that there are places that are safe and good.
I purposefully remember to gather community and play, be joyful, and build love, not just practice community perseverance.
I think, in many cases, we’ve got the perseverance down.
What brings you a moment of hope, of happiness, of celebration today? How can you choose to revel in a moment of connection or beauty? Where is God in those moments for you?
