8.4.23 - Psalm 111:10
What experiences or relationships cause you to respond with awe or wonder? How might you find a moment to be present to that wonder or share it with someone?
The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. Their praise endures forever.
This passage states that fear of God is the first step of wisdom. That all who understand this should have eternal praise.
For me, this passage is not about fearing God in the way think of fear today.
I believe the kind of fear used here points to awe and wonder. It asks us to be fully aware of God's active power and presence.
As you would with something you fear, having a healthy “fear” of God helps us keeps our eyes on a path of wisdom.
What experiences or relationships cause you to respond with awe or wonder? How might you find a moment to be present to that wonder or share it with someone?
