8.30.23 - Romans 2:1
Often, we prefer to deflect rather than reflect. Faith is a path of growth. Take moment to discern your next steps, do they reflect your potential for growth, or deflect your pain onto someone else?
Therefore you are without excuse, whoever you are, when you judge others, for in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, are doing the very same things.
Karma. What we put into the world, we'll likely receive in return.
When we judge others for doing the same things we do, we're asking for it to come right back at us.
For me, God experiences what we put out into the universe, who we're passing judgment on, and God holds us accountable.
It's just about punishment for judging others, but more about the failure to recognize our own faults while we judge others. It's hypocrisy.
Judgment is judgment, hate is hate no matter who started it.
God's action is to hold us accountable to the rules of love. Love is hard to learn how to do effectively without accountability. Learning from our mistakes and committing to new habits and rituals is one path forward.
The rewards are great though, a better world, better community, and better relationships.
We often judge more harshly when we feel uncomfortable with ourselves, it's so much easier to point out other's faults that deal with our own. What's the frustration with yourself that you're projecting on to others? How can you take a step toward recognizing it today?
