8.2.23 - 1 Thessalonians 2: 1-2
What's the act of courage your community, family, or friends need right now? What will you do to make sure it happens?
You yourselves know, brothers and sisters, that our coming to you was not in vain, but though we had already suffered and been shamefully mistreated at Philippi, as you know, we had courage in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in spite of great opposition.
Perserverance is a key component of faith, even in the face of strong opposition. Paul's goal with the Thessalonian community was to spread the good word of God to the people.
Perserverance matters in all parts of our lives though. When our motives stem from a faith steeped in compassion and justice, our results will engender the same.
Paul’s team was seeking to improve the lives of those they encountered, holding their community accountable to this work.
Striving for goals that will help us, our friends, family, etc. matters. Often the most honorable action is the most opposed action as well.
In those moments we must be able to push beyond our imaginations to experience the movement of Spirit in the community around us. Courage to perservere is not easy to come by, but worth it in the end.
What's the act of courage your community, family, or friends need right now? What will you do to make sure it happens?
