6.8.23 - Acts 17:6-7
What hospitality do you need today from others? How can you find out what hospitality others might need from you?
When they could not find Paul and Silas, they dragged Jason and some brothers and sisters before the city authorities, shouting, “These people who have been turning the world upside down have come here also, and Jason has entertained them as guests. They are all acting contrary to the decrees of the emperor, saying that there is another king named Jesus.”
Thank God for the Jason’s of the world who entertain those willing to turn our unjust world upside down.
Creating and providing hospitality, refuge, a homebase to those risk-taking prophets among us is no small feat.
At Juniper Formation, we aim to co-create this kind of faith community, and Jason Whitehead working alongside others has created the remarkable homebase that we call ReFrame.
A place where we can prophetically reflect on the scripture and habits of our lives, encourage one another in faith, and share together where we are stretching, in need, and in celebration.
I am grateful that our diverse writers have a place to explore and stretch within the scripture, to challenge us to imagine our diverse selves in these stories, and help us imagine our faith in new loving and justice-centered ways.
In your relationships and communities, where are you in need of prophetic hospitality? How are you providing prophetic hospitality with others?
Today or this week, take one action to provide hospitality, refuge, and/or a spiritual/physical/emotional homebase for someone who is turning the world upside down for love and justice. It can be small or large, what matters is that we make it a practice to show up for one another.
