6.28.23 - Acts 5:4b-6
What are the little things you tell yourself each day that keep you from claiming the fullness of who you are? Which one do you want to give up on today?
How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You did not lie to us[a] but to God!’ 5 Now when Ananias heard these words, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard of it. 6 The young men came and wrapped up his body,[b] then carried him out and buried him.
We must first lie to ourselves before we can lie to others.
Perhaps our self-deception is not to the extent that we believe the lies that we are telling others.
But, when we feel like we can’t even be honest with trustworthy folks, it is indicative that we have succumbed to the foundational lie of insufficiency. The lie of “not-enoughness” is at the root of all human discord.
Whether it is the lie that we do not have enough resources or the lie that our essential God given nature is lacking in some irredeemable way, these core lies tear at our hearts, mind, and soul.
It drains our strength to will and to do that which calls all of us to the remembrance that we are all children of God and there is nowhere that we can flee from God’s presence.
Do you question the validity of the insufficiency lie? How do you challenge it in your life?
