6.27.23 - Psalm 9: 13-14
Facing our days with strong backs and open hearts, it's the superpower of the vulnerable. Is there someone who could use your vulnerability today? How might you show them?
Be gracious to me, O God. See what I suffer from those who hate me; you are the one who lifts me up from the gates of death, so that I may recount all your praises, and, in the gates of daughter Zion, rejoice in your deliverance.
There is a great mystery to vulnerability. When we are clearly vulnerable, our need for Divine intervention in our lives is hard to ignore.
We know that we cannot win our battles on our strength alone. So, we ask for help.
And depending on how desperate we are, we may even accept help from the most unlikely of sources.
Another aspect of being intimate with our vulnerabilities–especially when they are due to perceived injustices– is that we often find comfort in the thought that justice will not be delayed permanently.
In short, we draw some modicum of strength through acknowledging our vulnerabilities. In calling out to God in their need, the psalmist drew strength they may not have otherwise had access to.
Can you recall a time when you found strength in admitting your vulnerabilities?
