5.3.23 - Romans 6:11
Family is not just something we're born with, it's nurtured and co-created. Who's a part of your chosen family, and how might you be grateful for them today?
In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
In my culture, we live as long as we are remembered - dia de los muertos keeps our familial ties alive and strong.
During this season, we remember family members for their joy and personalities by cooking them their favorite meals and playing their favorite games.
Truthfully, I've struggled in my family of origin. It's been hard to feel seen and loved. I have worked really hard to build community in my life beyond my family of origin.
With this family tension, I often turn to my faith. It’s a comfort to know that the struggles of the past don’t have to last. That the last word is not about sin, but about life.
During dia de los muertos you focus on the good of your familia. But this verse invites me to not just honor my family of origin, but to honor the God who has given me redemption through new family along the way.
What's one way you might express your gratitude for the families co-created in your life today?
