5.2.23 - Psalm 119:103
Words co-create worlds. What worlds do your words build for those around you?
How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
I spend most of my professional time in schools and classrooms across the country. In that time, I have overheard sweet conversations and hard conversations between teachers, students, and families.
The hard conversations stand out -- a harsh tone or sharp word stinging someone. It’s important for young people, indeed all people, to be encouraged. We all need to hear:
You can do this!
Lets try again!
I’m so proud of you!
In schools, we teach our kids to visualize the words they speak on the walls around them. This helps them reconcile that sticks, stones, and words CAN hurt one another.
When I visualize the words God speaks to me, I experience them as sweeter than honey.
You are redeemed
You are not alone
I love you!
What are the words you hear? How can you imagine using your words to co-create spaces that are sweeter than honey today?
