How do you want to be remembered? What's the next line in the story of your life that needs to be written?
and be found in God, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith.
Recently someone told me that the purpose of Jesus was not his death but rather his life.
When I think of Jesus I often think of the cross, but I don’t think thats what Jesus wants me to focus on.
Much like Jesus, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X were murdered for fighting against systems of inequality. It can be easy to minimize their lives by focusing on their untimely deaths.
A life can’t be summed up in one moment. It requires looking at the full story rather than just the conclusion.
Jesus lived a life of radical love - building community with the most marginalized. This verse reminds me that my faith in Christ, my following of Jesus’ call to love one another is what matters.
This verse calls me to wrestle with how Jesus lived - who did he care for? How did he show up for his community? What was his relationships with God like?
Do you get lost at the cross? Only focusing on that moment of Jesus’ life? What does Jesus' life beyond the cross teach us?
