5.12.23 - Psalm 63:1, 6-8
Where do you find your soul clinging to God? Where do you need God to uphold you?
O God, you are my God; I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; when I think of you on my bed and meditate on you in the watches of the night, for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.”
I’ve been in a season of insomnia lately.
Oh, I’m ok; I just have people and situations that weigh on my heart.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a little bit tired of feeling tired during the day, but there is something precious that also happens in those wakeful hours.
Those are some of my few moments alone in our house full and a life that sometimes feels overwhelmingly full of need. I can meditate on the situations that keep me awake.
This makes me sound much more holy than I am. Trust, I am also cursing the pets who think that they’re getting an early breakfast and glaring at my spouse who is sleeping sweetly next to me.
But when I remember to remember, I know that I am not alone in the watches of the night. It feels like a purposeful time, holy time.
I wonder if some of y’all are there with me.
I wonder what you find in the watches of the (figurative or literal) night? What does your soul cling to? What right hand upholds you?
