5.10.23 - John 11: 27
What if you were to write a John-like statement for yourself? “I come into the world to ____.”
She said to him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one coming into the world.”
“Coming into the world.” To John, Jesus is many things coming into the world - the light, the resurrection and the life, the word, and many more.
And we could spend a lot of time focusing on what Jesus brought into the world, the way that Jesus reframed God.
But what is striking me today is that it doesn’t stop there. Because Jesus then calls US to go out into the world.
It is our chance to reframe God. We have been sent with our own experiences and gifts.
For myself, I often find that my transgender and non-binary identity brings an important and often-missed perspective.
I know that I have an intentional tenderness that changes the way that many people have experienced religion. I radically value human’s rights to dignity and autonomy.
What unique understanding of who God is do you hold? What is it that you come into this world to share?
