4.27.23 - John 5:27
Being open to the discomfort of a loving correction can be hard, what's one thing you can imagine doing to receive feedback better today?
And They have given Jesus authority to judge because he is the Son of humanity.
Being judged is not my favorite feeling. I often become defensive and a flood of “buts” rush forward.
But you don’t understand!
But you don’t know my lived experience!
But you haven’t walked a mile in my shoes!
Other peoples' opinions of my life can feel overwhelming sometimes. When that happens, there's a song lyric that becomes a mantra for me:
“you don’t get to judge me, if you don’t love me”.
This helps me find comfort in Jesus as my judge. As the Son of humanity I know I am loved, which there aren't a lot of reasons for the “buts” to come up.
Judgment often begets a defense. Yet, we all need loving correction as no one gets this life thing right all the time.
Being open to the discomfort of a loving correction can be hard, what's one thing you can imagine doing to receive feedback better today?

Reframe means taking a fresh look at an old story.
It’s a way of experiencing your world differently, even though the landscape may seem similar.
