4.19.23 - Acts 1:3
Sometimes we just need a subtle reminder that things can be okay. What do you do to experience this assurance?
After his suffering he presented himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.
I know we just talked about Thomas and his colloquial nickname ("Doubting Thomas", poor dude), but let's also acknowledge that plenty of people needed convincing that Jesus was who He said He was after his death.
Thomas only needed to touch His hands, while this group of folks needed over a month of speeches, secret handshakes, "What song did I sing to you on your birthday last year?" tests, etc.
And Jesus did it -- He met them where they were, answered their questions, turned some water goblets in to wine goblets, and made sure His relationships were right. He did nothing to break anybody's trust but was willing to work for it anyways.
In Acts 1, the apostles were honest and said they needed time with Jesus to believe. Maybe it's the same for us: when we doubt, or when our awe dims, maybe we just need to be honest and spend some one-on-one time to nurture our own disbelief.
What do you need to experience a sense of assurance? How can you offer that to others as well?
