4.10.23 - Matthew 28:5-6
What does it look like when you are emboldened? How might the story of resurrection offer you the chance to live that today?
But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.”
Most Easter celebrations are characterized by joy and triumph and they laud the resurrection of Jesus and God’s defeat of sin and death for the salvation of all things.
The biblical resurrection stories are usually less triumphal and are a little more intimate.
Jesus’s friends, traumatized and terrified by the murder of their beloved leader of this kin-dom drawing near, are met once again with a message of hope: do not be afraid, he has been raised.
Their hopes of liberation and the reign of God, as well as the loving presence of Jesus in their midst, were killed, yet now raised! Resurrection triumphant and intimate.
What intimate fears or alienation can you allow resurrection power and hope to raise in this moment? Who does that embolden you to do or be?

One of the hardest yet most effective ways to shape a new habit is to share it with someone.
