3.29.23 - Isaiah 40:9
What would it look like to show up for those who feel alone today? How might you make this happen in your corner of the world?
Get you up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good news; lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good news; lift it up, do not fear; say to the cities of Judah, 'Here is your God!’
We are the heralds of good news - good news to all! But so frequently we are timid, we are quiet, we are hesitant. While people who claim Christianity are wildly speaking on behalf of “God’s will” and are harming ourselves and our siblings, we are worried about mixing politics and religion, so we are quiet.
We are in the season of reflecting on the life and death of Jesus, who died a political death for undermining and examining the powers of his time. Then, he was resurrected, demonstrating the power has nothing on this reimagining of the world.
As I shared last week, I am often afraid. I am not good at proclaiming, but I am practicing. I know that more voices are needed. Too many of my siblings think they are alone.
Today, take a moment to boldly reimagine your faith. Find where you might be clinging to a little bit of power and experiment with what it might be to question that. Proclaim from the mountaintops, “Here is God!”
How does your interaction with others shift if you claim and proclaim that God is with us?
