3.23.23 - Psalm 144:4
What are you giving up by not stepping into the fullness of who you are? What risks and dreams are put aside for comfort?
We are like a breath; our days are like a passing shadow.
Our time on earth is fleeting—a breath, a shadow.
In other words: life is short.
This reality can be daunting, as it brings us face to face with our mortality.
This reality can also inspire us to make the most of each moment.
Sometimes, perhaps, it can be a mixture of both, as well as many more complex emotions.
I was diagnosed with lupus in 2016. Initially, I was inundated with information about life expectancy and physical limitations. I was overwhelmed by thoughts of what my life might no longer be.
I’m grateful to have had the space to feel and be real about those feelings. I am also grateful for the witness of others living with lupus who helped me to expand my perspective.
In the years since, I’ve tried to embrace the paradoxical shortness and fullness of life…
Learning to make peace with the daunting reality of life’s shortness, while learning to make the most of each moment — taking risks, following my dreams, centering joy, loving deeply.
And along the way, making room for the array of emotions that might arise.
What do you find yourself ignoring or putting off, hoping to get to later, than could be done today?
What's one step, one risk, one dream you want to step into today, even if only for a moment?

Reframe means taking a fresh look at an old story.
It’s a way of experiencing your world differently, even though the landscape may seem similar.
