2.6.24 - Romans 16:16
Who around you might feel like they are small and struggling alone. How might you affirm them and their overall place in the world?
Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you.
Paul made a lot of enemies in his travels and ministry, but this passage, with it’s long list of greetings, reminds me that Paul was also a great relationship and community builder.
He lists each of them as beloved, kinspeople, and family, commending each of them.
I often think of Paul as divisive and harsh, but his way of speaking of his people is so warm and loving. He is affirming of who they are and the role they play in creating a Kindom here and now.
The Church was small and struggling, and they needed someone to care about their ministry and existence, someone to keep them interconnected to the larger picture.
We all want to be remembered. Some of us go about using power to be remembered, others kindness and compassion. How do you want to be remembered by others, how do you want them to greet you on the street?
As you go through your day, look for moments where you might pause to greet someone warmly and lovingly.
