Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.
What can becoming our "truest self" look like?
I used to think it had more to do with the transformational things: living out your gifts, learning divine patience, etc. And I still think it can certainly be those things.
But now, when I think about my journey of becoming more "me", I think about coming to terms with the things I love. Our passions, our hidden hobbies, the innocuous things we might feel are the least important parts of us... The things about ourselves we are often quickest to sacrifice.
Just as each of us comprise The Body, all the tiny parts of us make us whole, too. The more we allow ourselves to love the things we love and pursue the things that interest us, the more our life also brings Them into focus.
Aside from the transformational part of getting to know the Creator, how have you grown to love yourself more? Are there areas or ways that you think you can love yourself better?
Today, pick something, anything really, that you've long neglected about yourself. Say what it is out loud, and make a commitment to honoring it today.
