1.30.24 - Mark 3:5
What rules are you stubbornly adhering to instead of acting with the kind of compassion that changes someone's life, perspective, and sense of self?
and looking around at them with anger Jesus was grieved at their hardness of heart...
In this passage, a person was asking Jesus for healing.
The catch: it was the Sabbath!
*Audible Gasp!*
Folks from the synagogue watched with anticipation, waiting to catch Jesus and start blasting that he'd done something wrong.
Jesus essentially asks, regardless of what you think scripture says, is it better to hurt someone or help someone? What do you think the Creator would be more satisfied with?
Crickets.
And that angered Jesus.
This life isn't meant to be a test of do's and don'ts... it's a marathon of compassion.
In the end, I don't think we'll be judged by how many rules we didn't break, but by how we treated each other.
Housing access, opioid crisis, labor laws, immigration.
Regardless of what you think scripture says about these things, is it better to fight for someone's health and human rights or fight for our individual entitlement?
