1.25.24 - Proverbs 4:5b-6
How does it feel showing up as your authentic self? How might God’s wisdom encourage you on that journey?
Grow in discernment! Grow in Wisdom! Don’t you give up on her, and she will never give up on you; if you love her, she will protect you.
Even when I was a young evangelical kiddo, I loved that wisdom in Proverbs was personified using feminine pronouns and language.
As a young ciswoman in those spaces, it often felt like there weren’t many opportunities for my wisdom and my gifts to be used in the church. But when I’d hear that Wisdom herself was called a woman? Whew. I knew there was room for me to be me too.
That’s the beauty of representation, isn’t it? Not that representation fixes all of our injustices or systems, but there is something really powerful when we see ourselves reflected in our scriptures and communities and institutions.
In what spaces or ways can you represent as your authentic self today and give others permission to do the same?
