1.24.24 - Galatians 1:10a
When does people-pleasing get you into trouble? What truths do you need to say today for your relationships to move forward?
Whom am I trying to please now—people or God?
It makes sense that as social creatures we humans try really hard to please one another.
We want to make those close to us proud and keep them in relationship with us.
It seems though that a lot of times, we hold back on asking questions we have or sharing a thought that’s been on our mind, so as not to disrupt the status quo of the relationship.
I see this in our faith and organizing spaces. We keep silent when we have a marginalized idea or we’re scared of being labeled a troublemaker or problematic.
But if you’re seeking understanding or working towards the greater good, aren’t those things of God?
Maybe today we all try practicing taking a step toward authenticity by asking our questions or sharing our ideas with bravery.
When does people-pleasing get you into trouble? What truths do you need to say today for your relationships to move forward?
