O God, when you went out before your people, when you marched through the wilderness the earth quaked, the heavens poured down rain
There is something awe inspiring about an earth-shaking God. It’s a form of power we glorify these days.
It’s also in stark contrast to the still small voice, the passing of God in the whisper after the storm, and the life and experiences we attribute to Jesus.
In the midst of a Psalm about joy and justice, we get a reminder of a God that shakes and douses the earth. There is safety in experiencing God this way. There is risk as well.
It’s safe to talk about a powerful God who shakes the earth. It’s risky to talk about a God who expects us to follow them in that shaking space.
ReFrame is built to help us imagine what discipleship looks like everyday. We can’t assume to know the wilderness you will travel, only that God calls us into uncomfortable spaces to take risks for our faith.
I don’t know what risks will be asked of you. I can only hope that what we do here helps prepare the way.
